A resident of Los Angeles, California, Chris Bissonnette is an attorney and a director of Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas). In addition to his role at SoCalGas, Chris Bissonnette has advocated for the LGBTQ+ community.
Mr. Bissonnette spent the first part of his career in law, beginning with Jackson Lewis, LLP in 1999, where he represented clients in labor, wage, and employment cases. In 2004, Paul Hastings LLP hired him to represent its clients (including Fortune 500 companies) in similar labor matters and class-action lawsuits. He also represented Sempra Energy as a senior counsel for labor and employment from 2008-2017.
In 2019, SoCalGas hired him in the role of assistant general counsel, with the main responsibility of handling regulatory matters for the company. Two years later, the company promoted him to director of labor relations and wellness, where he harnessed the power of C-suite partnerships to develop clean energy initiatives. His work in human resources also includes affiliations with multiple professional organizations.
Mr. Bissonnette has advocated for the LGBTQ+ community in a number of ways, serving as a governing member of the Out and Equal Workplace Advocates and engaging in pro bono work for Equality California and the Trevor Project. More recently, he volunteered as an advisor for the SoCalGas Pride Employee Resource Group. His other roles have included participation in the Sempra Energy Employee Diversity & Inclusion Council and sitting on the board of directors for Foundation of Women Warriors.
